Disabled American Veterans - Bill Kinnard Chapter #92 Victorville, Ca.

Bill Kinnard Chapter #92 was established on Sept 8th, 1975, by local Veterans of the Victorville, California, High Desert area. Those original 25 members decided to name our Chapter after Bill Kinnard, a 20-year-old man who perished on the battlefield of the Vietnam War in 1967. Bill bravely paid the ultimate price for our country’s freedoms while serving in the Army’s 101st Airborne Infantry Division.

Bill was the 1st Vietnam War casualty that had gone from Kindergarten through High School and graduated in 1965 from Victor Valley High School (VVHS).

In our Chapters initial development Bills Mother and younger Sister approached the men who were organizing the new DAV Chapter in Victorville and asked them if they could name the new Chapter in his honor. The Officers establishing the Chapter were proud and honored to name our Chapter after him, and to this day we continue to proudly remember his sacrifice forever in the Victorville area.

Bills Mother and Sister were also original members of the Women’s Auxiliary who started what is now our DAV Auxiliary Post #92.

Since our Chapter and Auxiliary Post started up in 1975, we have strived to continue our mission and serve Veterans of the Victorville area by assisting them with VA claims filing provided by our volunteer Chapter Service Officers.

Every year we participate in events like the City’s Veterans Day Parade, Memorial Ceremonies at all local Cemeteries, the City’s Spring and Fall festivals, and we host the Annual All-Commanders Fishing Competition held at Jess Ranch Lakes in Apple Valley.

On Veterans Day, our Chapter also proudly participates in our Organizations Annual Forget Me Not Fundraiser, where we collaborate with Golden Corral and promote feeding free meals up to 5,000 Veterans.
